I am a resident who meticulously avoids US Highway 27 due to its reputation as a dangerously high-speed thoroughfare. It has become hazardous to roam its terrain due to the recurrence of accidents and fatalities; it's a danger not just for myself, but for all who live, work, and travel through the Sebring area in Florida.
US 27 poses considerable risk. This well-traveled road cuts through several cities, including Moore Haven and Clewiston. Comparably, these cities enforce lower speed limits of 35 MPH, aimed at accident prevention and public safety.
The question arises, why not extend these cautionary speed limits to the portions of US Highway 27 routing through Sebring? Adoption of lower speed limits in Sebring could promote more responsible driving behavior, alleviate unnecessary loss of life, and create a safer environment for all.
To establish a safer community for residents and visitors alike, we implore traffic authorities to assess the situation. We ask that they reduce the speed limit, as a preventative measure, and to potentially save lives. Please stand with us in advocating to lower speed limits on US Highway 27 through Sebring, hence making this region of Florida safer for everyone. We urge you to sign this petition.
